The initiative provides for a blend of 35% SAF to be used across the delivery of three new ATR 72-600 aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) to Fiji Airways, resulting in 4.7 tonnes of CO2 saved in total.
The ATR 72-600 is the lowest emission in production regional aircraft with a 45% smaller CO2 footprint compared to similar sized regional jets. The ATR 72-600 is currently certified to fly with a 50% SAF blend with ATR committed to achieving the 100% SAF readiness in its aircraft offerings by 2030.
The SAF produced by TotalEnergies at its French facilities is made from waste and residues such as used cooking oils or animal fats. It is then blended with conventional Jet A-1 at a rate of 35%.
